Why not just get married here in the United States? / Por que no casarse directamente en los Estados Unidos? Unfortunately, citizens of Argentina aren't welcome to come visit us here whenever they like. Argentinians who want to visit the United States for any length of time need a visitor's visa, and those aren't easy to come by. The application process for a tourist visa is very expensive and can take months, and even after all of that, many applications are denied. While we know that traveling to Mexico from the United States can be difficult for some people, we didn't feel right having the wedding in a location where many of Guille's friends and relatives legally cannot attend. _____ Sabemos que los requisitos para ingresar a los EEUU, para los ciudadanos argentinos, son más estrictos que en otros países. Why Mexico? / Por que Mexico? The decision to get married in the Caribbean followed almost immediately after our decision to have a destination wedding. If we had to travel, we knew we wanted to go someplace tropical and exciting. We also knew that we had to go someplace comparatively affordable where both Americans and Argentinians are welcome without visas. Mexico fit all of those criteria. Other benefits of going to Mexico are that it is accessible to those members of Elizabeth's friends and family who have limited mobility and Mexico's large bilingual population - especially in Riviera Maya. _____ La idea de casarnos en el Caribe surgió casi inmediatamente después de nuestra decisión de tener una "boda de destino". Do I need a passport? / Necesito pasaportes? Yes, any US citizen entering Mexico needs to have a valid passport. Adult passports cost $135 for first-time applicants or $110 for passport renewals and are valid for 10 years. Passports for minors younger than 16 cost $105 and last for 5 years. As of March, regular processing time for a passport is 4-6 weeks. You can also pay an extra $60 to expedite the process and get your passport in about half the time. While a less expensive passport card for entry into Mexico does exist, we discourage our guests from choosing this option as the passport card is only valid for traveling by land or by sea - not by air. _____ Ver la pagina de Informacion Practica. |

What should I wear? / Que ropa debo llevar? The wedding itself is formal and will be held near (but not on) the beach. Gentlemen are encouraged to wear something along the lines of button-up shirts and slacks to light suits. Ladies will be comfortable in skirts and blouses, sundresses, light pantsuits, or the like. At no point will we be venturing out on the sand, so don't be afraid to wear your favorite dancing shoes! Note: Dinner in any of the resort restaurants is a semi-formal affair. While dressy shorts and polo shirts are acceptable at the buffet, gentlemen are required to wear long pants at any of the more formal restaurants. _____ La boda en sí es formal y se llevará a cabo cerca de la playa (pero no en ella propiamente). Do I have to bring anything special? / Tengo que llevar algo en especial? In a word, no. Other than your regular clothes and toiletries, just remember to bring your party clothes for the wedding. Gentlemen are also required to wear long pants to dinner at the resort restaurants. The hotel provides all linens, including both bath and beach towels. There are also extra charges for golfing, billiards, bike rentals, parachute sailing, and all motorized water sports. Salon services and treatments like massages and facials at the Renova Spa are not included. One scuba lesson in the hotel pool is included, but any additional lessons cost extra. Some guests also choose to give extra gratuities to their favorite members of the staff, but that is not required. Please check with your health insurance provider to make sure that you are covered while outside the country.
