Question_mark Question:

Good Evening Sharon!
My fiance and I are from Chicago and we are looking to do a destination wedding. We were currently looking at the Bahamas, when it was mentioned to us to check out some of the islands on the east coast. The farthest east that I have been is D.C. so I don't know a whole lot about the islands along the east coast. I was wondering what your thoughts/suggestions were one either location. We are paying for the wedding ourselves so there is definitely a budget. I really appreciate any help that you could offer. Thank you so much!
Kristen

Answer:

Hi Kristen!

If you're looking to go right off the coast, there's Hilton Head Island, SC that's really nice for weddings. They have a tremendous amount of nice resorts there, with plenty to do, and that's a very popular golf destination in case any of your guests are golfers!

My #1 choice is in the Caribbean, on the island of St. John. Check out www.caneelbay.com, which is where I honeymooned. Their Facebook page will show you a lot about the resort and how gorgeous it is -- their destination weddings team is top-notch and the food is phenomenal. I actually honeymooned there and we've been back 3 times. Definitely worth checking out. The garden rooms are very affordable, and look for their special packages like a free day.

Another location is Tucker's Point on Bermuda. It's a bit closer to you, a shorter flight, but also very pretty and a great destination wedding location. Bermuda is beautiful as well, very charming with its British culture.
