Welcome to our wedding map! We are so excited that you will be joining us as we celebrate our wedding in October!The wedding ceremony begins at 6:00 pm Saturday at historic Grace Cathedral on Nob Hill. Parking is available across California Street from the church.
Our reception will start with a cocktail hour in the Garden Court and then proceed to a seated dinner and dancing starting at 8:00 in the Grand Ballroom. Valet parking is available, but for those who don't want to drive, we've arranged for a decked-out cable car to loop back and forth between the church and hotel after the ceremony.
For those of you who like slightly smaller boutique hotels with loads of charm, the Hotel Majestic in Pacific Heights is the place to stay. We've reserved a block of rooms, so refer to the Franklin-Johnson wedding when you make your reservations. And you might even get lucky and see Julia Roberts -- she's been known to stay here!
For all you shopaholics, the Westin St. Francis on Union Square (in SF's premier shopping district) is the place for you. We have reserved a block of rooms, so please refer to the Franklin-Johnson wedding when making reservations.
Oakland International Airport (OAK) is just across the bay from San Francisco. If you're coming from the east coast for the wedding, you might find slightly less expensive flights coming into Oakland versus San Francisco.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is the largest airport serving the Bay Area, as well as the one closest to the city. At SFO, you can grab a cab -- it's about $45 to get to SF -- or you can take BART.
We love going to this little Italian restaurant in the heart of the Marina District. Their osso bucco is especially delicious!
Florio is our favorite Pacific Heights bistro and regularly serves up casual but tasty French fare. The steak and frites are always a hit!
Sociale is hands down our favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Tucked away down a narrow brick alley, it's the perfect combination of atmosphere and cuisine. If the weather is good, we definitely recommend dining on the patio.
Friday's rehersal dinner will be held on a private floor in historic Julius' Castle. The restaurant, perched on the side of Telegraph Hill with spectacular views out over the bay, holds a special place in our hearts -- it's where Peter proposed!
The Boom Boom Room is a great venue for small live music performances and dancing. It's in the historic Fillmore Jazz District.
Pearl's is our favorite jazz club in San Francisco. It's right in the heart of North Beach, where there are also many restaurants and bars.
This is the home to San Francisco's wonderful opera company. If you're an opera fan like Margaret and are in town for an extra day or two, a night (or afternoon) at the opera could be the perfect activity.
Every Saturday morning, the recently renovated Ferry Building hosts a fabulous farmers' market, with vendors selling all sorts of yummy treats. We love coming by to pick up a loaf of fresh bread and some organic cheese and olives and then heading up to Marin Headlands for weekend picnics!
Just re-opened in its new building in fall of 2005, the de Young museum is one of San Francisco's cultural highlights. It features a wide array of art and artifacts and is open late on Friday nights (perfect for those of us who work downtown and can't always find time on the weekends).
This is where you can find Peter most Sunday afternoons! The Presidio Golf Course is a scenic course in San Francisco's historic Presidio, a former military base.
Sam Garrett, Paul Johnson's business partner, and his wife Kathleen Garrett have graciously offered to host a Sunday morning brunch for the day after the wedding. Brunch will be served in their Russian Hill garden starting at 10:30 am.
