"Audubon Zoo is a New Orleans landmark and a living museum filled with some of the rarest and most beautiful creatures of nature. There have been animals at this site since the 1884 World Exposition in Audubon Park. Today, Audubon Zoo is 58 acres of animals in their natural habitats. The Zoo consistently ranks among this country’s best. Here you will find a unique wildlife haven full of New Orleans flavor, impressive 100-year old oak trees and a cast of animal characters. Animal favorites include elephants Jean and Panya, the Komodo dragon and the white tiger brothers from California, named King Rex and King Zulu. But also look for bears, monkeys, snakes, orangutans, elks and more exotic animals than you can imagine!"

"Audubon Insectarium, located in the U.S. Custom House on Canal Street, encourages you to use all five senses as you explore North America’s largest museum devoted to insects and their relatives. You’ll discover why insects are the building blocks of all life on our planet in our newest one-of-a-kind attraction. Thousands of live and preserved specimens illustrate the vast diversity of shape, size and color of Earth’s largest group of animals. Within the Insectarium you will shrink to bug size; wander through a mysterious Louisiana swamp; join the active audience of an awards show for bugs; and be captivated by thousands of butterflies in an Asian garden."

"Audubon Park (historically French: Plantation de Boré[1]) is a city park located in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. The park is approximately six miles to the west of the city center of New Orleans and sits on land that was purchased by the city in 1871. It is bordered on one side by the Mississippi River and on the other by St. Charles Avenue, directly across from Tulane University and Loyola University. The park is named in honor of artist and naturalist John James Audubon, who began living in New Orleans in 1821."

"The Audubon Zoo is a world of its own - see exotic animals, reptiles, elephants and more. Walk through The Louisiana Swamp exhibit which is a re-creation of a 1930s swamp settlement equipped with a trapper’s cottage, Spanish moss, white alligators and cypress knees. Be sure to check the schedule for alligator feedings - you won’t want to miss this! Speaking of feeding…are you getting hungry? In the Cajun Swamp there is a restaurant overlooking the swamp. Have a snack break in the bayou and relax with a daiquiri or cold beer. Its easy to spend hours in the zoo, so by the time you see it all, you may be getting restless for some lunch. Head back through Audubon Park until you hit St. Charles Ave. and take a right towards downtown. Take your time while you wander the avenue known for historic homes, churches and parks."

For the millions who use the park for picnics, relaxing, walking, running, cycling and special events there is no better place in New Orleans for recreational fun and relaxation."

"Audubon Park is located between Magazine Street and St. Charles Avenue. On the Magazine Street side of the park is the New Orleans Zoo, and on the St. Charles Avenue side of the park is Tulane University. This park boasts of trees covered with spanish moss, ponds, large oak trees, and mansion homes surrounding it."
Michelle and Jonathan's Wedding
"(504) 565-3033 Visit one of the best aquariums in the world. Katrina was detrimental to the building, however, it is reopening and reorganizing. You can see the rainforest, visit the penguins, see glow-in-the-dark water animals, etc. There is also an IMAX theater here which has different shows. The aquarium is right on the river, so then afterwards, you can take a stroll alongside the Mighty Mississippi, on the Woldenberg park path, back to the heart of the french quarter. Worth seeing! Sometimes if you are really lucky, the Natchez Steamboat will serenade you and you can hum along to the tunes while you are walking."
