We knew about Valerie because she was also my brothers wedding planner four years ago. She did an amazing job for him and an amazing job for us. She's super efficient, really helpful and completely listens to your thoughts & ideas but also makes great suggestions if you're unsure about someething. We trusted Valerie 100% and she certianly didn't let us down. Valerie is a fantastic wedding planner! She is SO organised! She really listened to what we liked/ didn't like and recommended the perfect wedding suppliers to suit our style. She answered all our questions (we had lots!) and got back to us so quickly. She is so down to earth and was very good to us when we came to Barcelona eg showing us around different venues etc...

Val was a delight to work with and she made sure that our wedding day was perfect down to the small details. our wedding could not have happened without Val and Mirella and i cant thank them enough for the magical day. all of our guests had an amazing time.

We would both like to sincerely thank you and Mireia for the excellent manner with which you helped organise the wedding and the hours ye spent going through everything from. No detail was too small and you really made sure that everything ran smoothly on the day! Even the lightning storm seemed to add to the occasion and everyone loved the lanterns being brought out during it. It added some good drama!! I have to admit that I am relieved that the electricity came back on for the dancing – purely because I am a really bad singer and dreaded a sing song!!!! I know you were already sourcing a generator though! Anyway, it shows that these things happen and sure everything still goes fine! All the guests just loved the wedding; many hadn’t been to Barcelona before and loved the city so it was truly a great experience on the whole. They thought you and Mireia were wonderful, many commenting that you were always quietly there in the background keeping an eye on everything!

For anyone trying to plan their wedding in or near Barcelona, Valerie should be your first port of call. From the very first phone call, throughout the planning process and on the day itself she completely exceeded our expectations in how professional, supportive, creative and organised she was. It is a really difficult task trying to find a wedding planner that you feel is genuine and that you can trust from the outset especially when planning it from outside Spain, (we are from Ireland but based in London). Valerie fits the bill completely and more than anything listens. Everyone has a different idea of what their perfect day should be and Valerie does her utmost to help you achieve this. We really could not have done it without her and cannot recommend her enough.

Valerie was amazing, we couldn't have been luckier in finding a more professional and genuine wedding planner. She is so passionate about her job and knows how to get it done. From the start, she got a great sense of who we were and what we were looking for. She connected with us and we connected with her, she has a right mixture of understanding what we as a non-Spanish couple hoped for with our wedding abroad and got it done. She’s very up to date about venue options in Barcelona and outside the city, she’s well connected to vendors (venues, florists, caterers, photographers, videographers, hair and makeup, ect), and set everything up for us with such great organization, we were able to hit the ground running each time we came to Barcelona and make informed decisions. Coming from the States, it seemed impossible at first to pull off a wedding in Spain, but working with Valerie simply made a lot easier than we had imagined. She worked well long distance over email, skype, and phone, and regularly got back to us in a reasonable timeframe. Valerie and her assistant Mireia were integral in coordinating our rehearsal dinner at the Textile Museum located in the Gothic Quarter, our ceremony and reception at Sant Miquel del Fai, and a Sunday brunch on the beach for 100 guests. In addition to our big events, she and her team organized group rates at several hotels in Barcelona, helped coordinate welcome bags for all of our guests, and oversaw so many details we never would have thought of. Valerie is very organized and thorough, she kept a detailed check list in order to make sure we addressed all items from A to Z. She left no detail unfinished or set aside, when our wedding weekend kicked off, we knew exactly what was going to happen, even if the unexpected happened. Valerie is personable, engaging, fun to be around, and it's obvious she wanted to make sure our events were memorable and what we dreamed they would be. Throughout the process, we developed not just a trusting connection with Valerie and Mireia, but we also formed a great friendship. Planning a wedding can obviously be extremely stressful at times, so the fun and laughter went a long way! We could not have planned our wedding without her, it simply could not have turned out as perfect as it did without the experience and passion she brought to the table. We had shopped around quite a bit in the beginning with different wedding coordinators in Barcelona, thankfully we found Valerie and Weddings Via Val!!

Valerie made planning our wedding from the states virtually stress-free. During the planning process, she was extremely organized and productive, offering advice and options that I am sure were tailored to our style and and personalities. Because she has fantastic taste, we were able to be very laid back during the planning process, confident that Valerie would streamline our choices and that we would not have to overthink or overanalyze decisions. She quantified costs to ensure we stayed within budget and presented us with advice on when/where to save money and where to splurge. When it came to the actual wedding weekend, she was extremely professional - everything we had chosen over the months exceeded our expectations. There was not one thing that we were disappointed in - I credit this to Valerie and her assistan Mireia. On top of delivering a top notch event, she is warm and funny, and really nice to be around. Always helpful and went above and beyond when it came to dealing with our sometimes overbearing relatives. I couldn't recommend her more highly.

Valarie was well placed to organise our wedding in Sitges Spain on initial contact via phone she was the first wedding planner out of 5 we had contact with that actually caled us back and explained in detail the venues she dealt with and not hiding their names. When we gave her our criteria she came up trumps with almiral de la font an amazing venue where most of our guests stayed for a whole week. On the day we did not worry about anything as valarie was there to sort things out.

We always knew we wanted to have a wedding abroad to bring our friends and family to a party that they would never forget! From our very first meeting with Valerie, we knew she would be just the person to bring our dreams into reality. Any request we made was neither too big nor too small and she really went above and beyond anything we would have ever expected in a wedding planner. Each and every one of her recommendations fitted our day to perfection, from the venue, to the flowers and the photographers and food. Valerie took the time to get to know us and as a result knew exactly the sort of day we had in mind!

Our wonderful memories of our wedding in Spain we owe all to Valerie for making it possible. We cannot thank here enough!

Simply put, we could neither have organised nor enjoyed our wedding without Valerie - if you are planning to celebrate your wedding in Barcelona or Sitges hiring this woman should be the first thing you do!

With our wedding being in Sitges, and neither of us Spanish speakers, we understood that we would need the help of someone that knew the local area and spoke Spanish! At first the idea of using a wedding planner seemed a bit extravagant but we soon realised it was a necessity...

Through the planning stages Valerie was amazing and (patiently) took us through a myriad of options in response to all of our requests. She dealt with the church, found us a fantastic English speaking priest, convinced the organist to play a specific piece of music for us, brokered deals with all the suppliers and much much more - all things with which we would have struggled being neither local nor native speakers.

On the actual day Valerie and her assistant surpassed themselves... against all the odds it poured with rain and the contingency plans we had discussed had to be implemented. Our reception was set-up inside (it had been planned outside), the welcome drinks relocated from the pool-side to the morrocan lounge, the bar set up under an awning, tables rolled away to clear a dance floor, transport pushed back, umbrellas found and so on... but none of this was an issue - it was seamless and no-one even realised it was meant to be any other way!

Indeed, as it turned out, everything was just perfect. As my husband said in his speech: "...everyone needs a Valerie in their life"!

I hired Valerie O'Donoghue about 4 months before my wedding, having realized that I didn't have the time or energy to plan a wedding overseas by myself. As soon as Valerie stepped in, she helped coordinate minor and major details of our wedding. She worked relentlessly to help us plan a wedding menu that was gastronomical yet rustic, and within our budget. Her entertainment had our guests dancing all night! (DJ and belly dancer). She was very patient and accommodating to all of our questions and needs. Most importantly, she has a fantastic energy and sense of humor that really helped round out our wedding party in the best way possible! Thanks Val!!

Having Val help us with our wedding was worth its weight in gold. She was professional, efficient, knowlegable and went out of her way to make things happen for us. On the day I wasnt troubled with anything,we were free to enjoy our day 100%. I had underestimated how much co-ordination is required when 130 people arrive at a wedding. Getting to and from church, photo shoots etc. With our mixed spanish, english and irish guests we had the complexity of language but Val´s bi-lingual fluency meant everyone knew where they had to be and when.
