Tracy and Alan's Wedding

"Can not say enough GOOD things about this company! My sister used them 9 years ago so it was only fitting I had them at my wedding as well. The DJ we had, Scott, went above and beyond anything I could have imagined! He made sure our night was perfect even outside of his DJ duties. He had everyone dancing until the very last song. So fun and can not thank him enough! We are forever thankful to him for making our night one to remember! ~Tracy & Alan"

Madison Wedding In July
Madison   |   July, 2011   |   DJs

"My fiance and I made a song request list prior to the reception. However, our dj hardly played any of the songs unless we directly asked him for a certain song to be played next. He also mispronounced my name during the grand entrance (even though I chatted with him a few minutes prior about how to say it). Lastly, we had requested a few special dances (bouquet toss, garter toss, dollar dance, etc) to be done that night (and gave him our list a few days prior to the reception). I was hoping that on my wedding night, I wouldn't have to let the dj know everything we wanted to have done again and say, "Okay, can we do _______ next?". I was hoping our dj would have just announced, "Okay, now it's time for the_____!" Instead, we had to ask him for each thing to be done. Towards the end of the night, my grandpa even said "Are you having a dollar dance? I've been waiting all night.""

From the vendor:

Hello July Bride, I am just becoming a member of weddingmapper.com so I regret seeing this message so late. It is now January of 2012. However, even though I have the option to delete bad reviews, I like to leave all comments up for others to see. I believe it is good to learn from past issues so as not to repeat them. While it's true this looks like it did not meet your standards, it is very hard for me to explain what happened nearly 7 months after the fact. Judging by what you wrote, I will only offer that the DJ was clearly somewhat unprepared and I believe that some of what you wrote could be considered a real issue. Many times things get magnified by a bride or groom that is overly intense to the day. Mistakes can and do happen. Nothing will go completely perfect. Perhaps the DJ was distracted for any number of reasons and despite the reminder, still mispronounced your name. Clearly this is not something we want to have happen, althouh very rare, things like this do happen and we have to absolve ourselves and not let it bring down the rest of the night. As for the special dances, I want to inform others that we have a definate "plan of attack" that covers everything and ensures that it gets done. A DJ is not going to leave anything out that is required to be done. It doesnt make sense. It would be like going to McDonalds, ordering a happy meal and the server intentionally NOT giving you the fries. They wouldnt do that. Nor would we leave out any of your specialty dances that are on the contract. I think because of the early issue with pronouncing your name, that magnified other issues and you perhaps thought the DJ was forgetting dances, when really we just hadnt gotten to them yet. But they certainly were coming up. As for your song list that you requested, we also have a "playlist" that covers the first two hours of your dance to ensure that EVERYONE in the audience has an opportunity to visit the dance floor to a genre that he/she likes to dance to. Often, a request list (yes even one from the bride and groom) gets pushed back to the back half of the show. It doesn't mean we are ignoring it, just simply that we are trying to get your entire crowd into the evening before we start playing specific songs for specific guests. It depends largely on the audience and the early participation numbers. I know this sounds like excuse making, but to those shopping for a DJ, by leaving this review and subsequent response up on this site for you to view, I hope it shows that we are a REAL company. Not some company that will try and give you the old "song and dance" and sell you something that sounds too good to be true. Fact of the matter is we do 150 weddings each and every year with a tried and true satisfaction rate of over 95%. Those 5% are generally situations that arise that could not have been avoided, but quite simply in the real world, things happen. We try to deal with them and move forward. Please understand that with High Energy DJs, I CARE about my clients and will do whatever it takes to ensure that you get a great show that you and your guests will be raving about for years to come. Sincerely, Scott - Owner
