The best local food you'll find. The service is wonderful, you are very likely to be the only tourist in attendance as it's off the beaten path but well worth the trip!
Located on 30th Ave near the Walmart, between 6th and 8th streets.
The prices are reasonable, stick to the plain broiled or fried fish. The fish platter for 3 feeds 4 or 5 and is great. Rick Bayless recommended! Corner of 30th Ave and Calle 22.

Located on Calle 1 Sur (This is on the Playacar side of Ave. Juarez) between 20th and 25th. This is a real butcher shop with excellent meats to take home and cook. It also has excellent and cheap cooked arrechera and steak lunch and dinners. This place gets rave reviews from locals and deserves it. The menu is limited, mostly to arrechera and meats by the kilo to take out (para llevar). They close early (about 7 P.M.) so get there early.
Walmart is at 30th & 10th. It's the cheapest place in town to buy booze and anything you forgot.
We can't vouch for their food as we didn't try it but the drinks are good and the nightly entertainment with your toes wiggling in the sand every night is perfect! The Fusion Hotel in Playa del Carmen is very easy to find at the end of Calle 6 - 6th Street - where it meets the beach. On foot, walk up or down the 5th Avenue pedestrian mall to Sixth and turn towards the beach. When the street turns to sand, look on the left to see the Fusion Hotel.
The bus only costs about $10 per person and drops you off at Cancun Airport. It is a nice air-conditioned bus (like a greyhound, not a typical city bus).
Located at the corner of Benito Juarez and 5th Ave.
If you want to take a day trip to Cozumel, this is where you do it. They leave every 45 minutes or so throughout the day. One way: $11, Round Trip: $16.
