hello ladies, my name is Bri im new here my fiance and i recently got engaged and have set a date for may 14 2011. we have decided our colors will be Tiffany blue,plum,white and a little bit of silver. Tho our wedding is in 2011,we both are big planners. My father has ask to pay for the wedding but asked us how much of a budget we need. We weren't going to have a big wedding at first but C and i just started writting down names and already its getting bigger and bigger,my mom is really excited and she too has said she will do all she can to contribute,as well as adding distant family members,My question is how have some of you come up with a budget?? i'm really not trying to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars,but i want my guest to enjoy them selves. i did a little research and i saw someone say that the average wedding cost about 30,000.00 dollars. how true that is i dont know. how have some of you saved money?? To the people that have already married if givin the chance would you spend less on certain things you thought you just have to have your in your wedding??
For anyone thats getting married in fort lauderdale florida,do you know of any ballroom reception halls? I've been browsing the internet and haven't found anything that i really loved.
MOTHER NATURE: are any of you worried about the weather,or let along aunt flow(monthly cycle)showing up on the big day?? Thats a big worry for me,am i the only one? how have some of you planned around that if your not regualr.

Sharri and I bought her bridesmaid dress on Wednesday, its a gorgeous champagne and Ivory colour. It's amazing how everything is coming together...then you realise you forgot something lol. Now Ive just got to find a fabric sample so my U.S. flower girl can have a dress to match!

I live in Fort Lauderdale but we are getting married in West Palm Beach. Of all the venues we looked at, the one we are going to is cheaper and nicer than the others. I plan on taking my birth control pill two months in a row with no breaks so I don't have to worry about my time interrupting anything. We do not have a huge budget but you can have a nice wedding by looking for sales of things. For instance, I got my centerpiece glass from Michael's crafts for 2.00 per pillar glass, regularly $6 to $10. I also bought wholesale hurricane glasses with the floating candles included online. Shop around and you can find some good deals. My favors are going to be homemade sugar cookies and white chocolate snowflake candies I am making myself. Have fun and try not to stress.
wow lee your deffinatly a DIY bride, Ive been looking at halls in fort lauderdale but i have yet to find anything that made me say WOW. I did find one hall that was completely amazing that offered you a package that included,a wedding cake,a free room for the bride and groom and much more but it was located four hours away at the sawgrass marriot hotel. next year when we really start planning my mom will do most of the bargin shoping and doing all the things that she can think of on her own. so we will be able to save a little but im considering a wedding planner, Jammie i still dont know how we go without seeing each other so long but our love keeps us strong and soon enough we will be together

Dawn, if you are able to travel a little more north, try Iron Horse Country Club, it's a very nice classy place and not as expensive as the others. They have a website at ironhorsecountryclub.com You have a long time to plan your wedding so I am sure everything will be great!
Can you get a webcam so you can talk to your fiance instead of just using the phone? Any way you can see him every few months? Good luck to you =)

I wanted to do something personal and not too expensive. You can get the rolled out sugar cookie dough and cut them out with snowflake cookie cutters, bake them, frost with white or light blue frosting and add shimmery sprinkles. The white chocolate is easy too, you can buy the snowflake molds online and pour melted white chocolate in them. Pop them out once they set and decorate if you wish!

it sounds like your on the right track planning your wedding and you have giving yourselves enough time to do want you need and want to do for it.we started planning our wedding two years ago and now are down to the last 10 weeks.and still have have about 20% left to do.we are truck drivers and our only home 2 days out of every 6 weeks.so that really dont give us much time to do anything.the internet and cell phone has been our best freind thur this.most of the things were using for the wedding,toasting glasses,candles,gifts,decorating,cake n knife cutter,80% of the stuff we have we order online it was cheaper and differnt then what everyone esle is using or seen at other wedding.as our flowers i went with fake because i can have the forever.their is a place that is called the flower factory in our hometown that sells the best looking fake flowers.this place is for business owners but give out memberships to the pulic.(and they are cheap)i made everything center pieces,flower sets,inventions,(300 of them blanks was $45.00)i even got my pillow,basket,garter,guest book and pen,flower basket there in red and white for under $100.00.they have everything you needed there.and because were doing everything ourselves we are under our budget $5000.00.now if your was to look at the stuff we got and using you would think that were $5000.00 over.you can also find this place online.but has far as mother nature it really not to much we can do about that because were women.but there is alwasys the shower.also try oriental trading for things your need.

I think that Karen & Stephen hit the nail right on the head! Make your priorities with your fiance of what's important to both of you on that day. Remember, it will be the the first day of the rest of your lives together. Also, what a wonderful idea they had - getting the rings made with scrap gold! Perhaps you can incorporate some self-made items (such as invitations, favors, gifts for your attendants) into your wedding to add a personal touch as well as cut down the costs. You have time on your side since your wedding is still a while away. Congrats on your engagement and HAPPY PLANNING!
