Expert Advice from wedding guru, Sharon Naylor
Question:
I am on a VERY low budget for my wedding, which is hopefully in October of this year. I have about $5,000.00 to go towards it. What would be the best way to divide the money.
Answer:
The best way to divide your wedding budget is to list out the Top 5 items that are most important to you -- it might be your dress, your catering, entertainment, photos, flowers -- and put a larger percentage of your wedding budget to those things.
It makes it a lot easier when you also list out the things you don't care about very much, and can thus spend very little on, or have parents pick up as their wedding help/gift to you.
So, you might want to spend 1/3 of your wedding money on your reception expenses, then put $750 to a wedding gown [you CAN find great ones on that budget], and go from there. Use the wedding help tools at this site to help you create a budget, and always keep that budget flexible so that you don't stress out too much...so that it doesn't own you.
