Cant afford rose petals.. and the fake silk pedals I will have to clean up per our churches rules.wow, what fun that will be... new bride and groom picking flowers out of the grass. I just cant seem to come up with anything. Whatever it is, I will have to clean it up. Only thing I can think of is Mini ice cubes..but ouch...LOL Thank you for your advice. janay

Answer:

Hi Janay!

Yes, most sites have established new rules forbidding most of the common toss-its like birdseed, rose petals, confetti, and such. And lots of couples don't want to do the bubbles thing either, since the bubble liquid actually can damage the wedding dress! Get hit with enough of them, and you get all sticky, not to mention the mess of spills from guests who can't work those little bubble bottles.

Most couples facing this situation decide to just skip the expense and hassle of post-ceremony toss-its, and their options include:

Handing out nothing to guests and just have the bridal party start a round of applause for you as you dash to the limo.

Have someone hand out little cards with the lyrics to a popular or sentimental song, inviting guests to 'sing you out.' Some couples even ask a ceremony musician [like a guitarist] to be there to play along. Or, they have a cultural musician there, just to 'play them out' [think bagpipes or drums, wind flutes and such].

I've never heard of the mini ice cubes thing, and it sounds like a dangerous option! Not only would they hurt, ice cubes can chip and turn into mini daggers, and then there's the issue of you or guests slipping on the tossed ice cubes and falling down the stairs! I'd think that a site would be very against this, since people falling on their property can lead to lawsuits...plus that would be challenging to pull off, since someone would have to make an ice cube run!

Let's hear other people's ideas...

Comment From Jared:
Just wanted to let you know I was just kidding about the ice cubes. We found lavender seeds that are very small and biodegradable. When they are stepped one, they leave a light sent of lavender. It can easily be swept away into the grass and not be seen. The seeds are very tiny. One bag is large enough for at least 100 people. Just need about half a tablespoon.. Hope this may help others. Thank you Janay
