Question_mark Question:

Hi Sharon!! My boyfriend and I are soon to be engaged, but not planning on having a long engagement at all...how long do you recommend waiting so that everything can be organized and well planned out? And when planning a wedding where do you recommend starting?

Answer:

I wouldn't go any shorter in planning time than 6 months, so that you have access to great wedding vendors. It all depends on the season you'd like your wedding to be in, so choose that first, create your guest list next so that you know the size of the sites you'll need [a small guest list opens up a lot of unique settings like estate homes, wineries, etc.], figure out your budget and what parents might be giving, then book your ceremony and reception sites before researching and interviewing your vendors!

Congratulations on your engagement, and don't forget to check out my books to help you with budget ideas and etiquette: www.sharonnaylor.net.
