Question_mark Question:

I am planning a winter wedding in February 2011. Small town country church. Any ideas for making the experience unique and memorable. Aprroximately 50-60 guests. Haven't found a venue for the reception yet.

Answer:

Use lots of silver in your decor -- from shimmery tablecloth overlays to silver centerpiece bowls. With white and silver as your color base, you can add any jewel tone for a great look that avoids the cliche red and white.

Talk to your chef about having winter comfort foods, that are great guest-pleasers. From shots of soup at a soup bar [always a hit! Guests love it when they can get great gourmet soups that don't take THEM all day to cook!] to seasonal menu items, and S'Mores and other winter treats for dessert options. Have your cake decorated with icing snowflakes which is easy for your cake team to create, and top with an ornament.

When you shop during this year's winter sales, you'll get great buys on clear glass winter ornaments that can be used as centerpieces, and offerd for guests to take home as favors. 24 to a box, for $3 or so a box is a steal!

Guests also love winter holiday themed music, like the songs from favorite holiday TV specials makes for fun music during the dinner hour, and i know there's a great CD soundtrack of the Peanuts holiday specials music. Guests love that! Gives a fun, playful, memory-filed vibe to the dinner hour or the start of the reception.

Ask your floral designer to use lots of winter greenery like evergreen and holly [minus the berries!]

And if it snows, get pictures out there! So fun!
