Jennifer Miller & Richard Gallegos

March 28 - 30, 2014
Proposal

As told by Jenny:
We had a lot of pressure on us about what was going to happen with our relationship when Rich left for his next assignment in July. There had been multiple arguments about where this was going. I was trying not to pressure him, but basically I was freaking out. Well, one random Wednesday night we were texting like we always did about how our day went. He was telling me about how he'd had such a bad day and how he was going to go run it off, but he should be home when I got there. I got home from teaching at the dance studio at about 6:45 and he was already there, sitting on the couch in a zip up hoodie and warm-up pants. When I came in, he told me to come sit down. His exact words were, "I know we should have had this talk a long time ago, but I think we need to have it now." Right away, my stomach dropped. He then said, "You know I love you and you mean the world to me, BUT, I don't want to go to Virginia with a girlfriend." Of course, I was ready to cry and all I could think was that he had some nerve breaking up with me in the middle of the week, right when I walked in the door, and how was I going to make it through the rest of the week? Then, he continues with, "hang on...I gotta pee" and I sat there dumbfounded. I couldn't believe that he just took a bathroom break in the middle of dumping me and I was sitting there trying to hold it together. He was gone for about 30 seconds but it felt like an eternity. Then, he came out of the bathroom wearing a tuxedo, with flowers and a box and got down on one knee. He fixed it all by saying, "I don't want to go to Virginia with a girlfriend, I want to go with my wife and best friend." ...and of course, I said yes! It was perfect because, as he explained it, some of our best times together have been random Wednesday nights, sitting on the couch, talking. Now, those random Wednesday nights have a whole new meaning.
