We are really thinking about having our ceremony and reception in the same spot. Do you think this is a good idea?

We are having our wedding in Georgia, which is where we reside. At first we were considering having a church ceremony and a renting a ballroom for the reception. Since my family is traveling from OH and his is from NY we decided to have it in ONE centralized location. This will save our guests that have never been here before the travel time to get from one place to another and not being familiar with the area can sometimes cause some confusion and late arrival. The traffic here also is an issue at certain times of the day as well. Now that we have found and booked the venue that was perfect for our big day, we are both relieved! The venue offers a "flip the room" option (payed extra) which will be set-up like an actual ceremony and then while our guests are in the smaller ballroom that the venue has for the "cocktail hour", the main ballroom will be set-up like a reception! I cannot wait! I say go for one place! I have attached some pics of the ceremony set-up! Good Luck!

Hi There,

I feel strongly about this one! Having your wedding and reception in the same place is convenient and can save you money. 1) It involves only one site fee; 2) It will save money and energy related to transportation costs on your wedding day; 3) By saving transport time, you may end up being able to keep within shorter contracted hours for your photographer or musicians, for example.

Best of Luck!

We had our ceremony and reception at the same location and it was great. We also had a bus pick up guests from local hotels. Our guests loved that they didn't have to drive from one place to the next. They also loved that we provided transportation to/from the wedding. It saved us money, time, and energy. It was also easier to coordinate all of the vendors.

A lot depends on the size of your group and the time of year and if your event is held inside or outside.
