Okay, so my boyfriend is in the Marines, and he wants to have a Fourth of July wedding w/red white & blue colors. But this just seems corny to me, is it? ..I was thinking Plum & and pale yellow would be beautiful colors for an Easter wedding.
Answer From Sharon:
Okay, I can help! When this kind of Couples Color Clash comes up, the great solution is to use his Red, white and blue color theme for your couples bridal shower or for the rehearsal dinner, and then use your lovely plum and pale yellow color scheme for the actual reception and your flowers, etc....

I am planning a wedding in march of 2010 and know that I want to have lilac for the main color and bridesmaids dresses but Im having a hard time figuring out what other colors would go well with this. I was thinking ivory. Do you have any suggestions?
Answer From Sharon:
My favorite color-selection inspiration is to go to the paint section at Home Depot and stand in front of all the paint color strips to get a really good look at which colors coordinate well with lilac. Look through the many different hues of lilac, which you can show to your floral designer and ...

Question_mark Question:

Is it okay to not have a place for everyone to sit at a reception? We will have 78 chairs plus 12 for the bridal party. That will leave 24 people without a chair. There will be a total of 6 highboys on outside balcony where 3 will be able to stand and place their plate. This is not a sit down ...
Answer From Sharon:
I've been to a few cocktail party weddings where 80% seats/20% no seats worked okay for the start of the event, but as the hours went on, people were getting tired and looking for a place to sit. Some went outside to sit on the terrace steps. Some guests, especially older ones, are quick to gr...

Dear Sharon, I was wondering if it is appropriate for the groom and groomsman to wear shorts? Thank You, Tam
Answer From Sharon:
Hi Tam: To answer this question, I have to have a lot more detail about your wedding plans. Khaki shorts are usually reserved for island destination weddings and casual beach weddings, but the word CASUAL is key. At formal outdoor, beach, or destination weddings, the men are wearing long pants...

Question_mark Question:

Can you put tulips and lilacs together in a bouquet?
Answer From Sharon:
Yes, absolutely! It's a great spring look, dependent on the size dimensions your floral designer (or you) finds to work best. Some varieties of tulips are enormous, and some are miniature. So decide if you want a bouquet that has flowers in roughly the same size, or if you want a few larger, more...

Use lots of silver in your decor -- from shimmery tablecloth overlays to silver centerpiece bowls. With white and silver as your color base, you can add any jewel tone for a great look that avoids the cliche red and white. Talk to your chef about having winter comfort foods, that are great gue...
